| Dear
friends,
Do agree with many of you that the child labour phenomenon is very dangerous and it needs a lot of efforts to be solved. We need money, we need awareness campaigns and many, many other facilities. BUT, DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR OUR GOVERNMENTS TO DO ALL THIS? I think NO. In fact, in developing countries governments face the problems of funding such projects and awareness campaigns. So it's our role to act. Yes, it's the role of the students all over the world to help child labourers. It's nice to share our thoughts about this problem on the forum, but we should act positively. We should get out of our chairs and just get down to streets, go to remote villages and work with different governmental and non-governmental organizations in order to raise people's awareness about the dangers of this phenomenon and the importance of education. I believe that we can do this and help our governments. We' re the ones who know the dangers and know the solutions. We do have the will to help our countries and our societies. Students can make a great change and we do have many examples . You can check the SOWC ( the State of World Children ) 2003 and read about the efforts done by students to help children labourers in their countries. They can be our models and we can be models for many other students who didn't have the chance to participate with iEARN. We shouldn't be negative; we should help our counties and be positive students. thanx for your time. |
