Mark Larbi Addo of Accra, Ghana present the following poem
on the realities of child labour.

STOLEN INNOCENCE

They used to say to me; darling dear
Making promises, repeating don't fear
My love and trust for them stopped each tear
My future at that time seemed so clear
Until it became too much to bear

Freedom and luxury is now a fantasy
My plight is worse than a grievous malady
Even to say I'm tired is an impropriety
Rest and freedom seem now an impossibility
For a child to enjoy his childhood is an essence
Education unlike labour will better his excellence
Appropriate authority must flee from inobservance
So child labour can be kicked out of existence
So a child will never say MY STOLEN INNOCENCE

Mark Larbi Addo

The meaning of the poem describes a child born a baby and given such a tender care for a very short while and later forced into labour. This as the result of the parents giving birth so much that they can't take care of him and forced to fend for himself.
