| Introduction
to the study:
Child labor is one of the social issues of today's world, which has suffered millions of the innocent children around the globe. The study, which focuses on the issue in the context of Gilgit town in North Pakistan, has been conducted as a compulsory assignment of 'Pakistan Studies' course. Furthermore, the study was also a part of International Education And Resource Network's (iEARN) project "Fight Against Child Labor". The findings of the study would be shared with all the 4000 member schools of iEARN in almost 100 countries. Objectives of the Study: Following are objectives of the study: · To explore the issue in its historical perspective as well as in
present setting Methodology: The assigned study was conducted in a one month's time period. Data has been collected from primary, secondary and tertiary sources. Library sources have been consulted for historical analysis of the issue where as other important documents like the 'UN Declaration on Human Rights', 'UN convention on Children Rights' and constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan etc have also been consulted. Data has also been obtained from various Internet sources, where as first hand data has been collected through observations and personal interviews. The entire data has been analyzed, and some sample profiles of child labor victims have also been included. Photographs of the respondent child laborers have also been included. Finally conclusions have been drawn and certain recommendations have also been made. |
